I have been looking for a job since April of 2013. I have applied to over 250 applications. I have been to around 40 or 50 interviews. It has been very frustrating. Every day, I am looking for a job.
The most recent applications have been for:
Vocational Assistant - for the county of Humboldt. I passed the "oral" exam. I was then invited to a formal interview. I was then sent a letter stating that the position was not going to be filled. Thanks for coming and sorry we wasted your time, is how I read the letter.
Social Service Aide - for the county of Humboldt. I have been to two interviews. I have not yet heard back from them.
Northcoast Co-op - IT technician - I applied for this June 3, 2014. I was invited to an interview on August 13. The interview seemed to go well. I saw my "opponent" before I was interviewed. When he was done with his, he walked by me and without any eye contact he says to me "good luck". I smile, and think he must not have impressed them very much. I feel the interview went well, and the person that interviewed me, walked me out of the interview and talked to me much more than he did with the previous candidate. They said they would contact me within a week, if I make the cut for a "second" round. So, hopefully I get to the second round. It took them almost 2 months just to get to the interview process from the date of application.
Open Door Clinic Arcata - Desktop Support Technician. I applied for the position, and gave my primary care physician my resume, she says she handed it personally to the IT supervisor. I have not yet heard from them.
I am about 1.5 months from defaulting on my mortgage. I am doing the best that I can to stay positive. It isnt easy, then again, no one said it would be.
I am working on studying to re take my Microsoft exam 70-410. I attempted this exam on June 27, and did not pass. I plan a different approach to my study tactics and pass this time around. I am also going to take the exam when it is available locally, sometime after September 4th. I would normally have to drive out of the area, to take this exam.
I have been doing the best that I can. I have been doing everything that I have been told to do.
I have been working on a website for a local merchant, and that project is another story, but in short, things are a little weird. At first I was told that all the images, materials, write ups, were ready and available. Then I find out that a photographer is in the process of taking the pictures of the products, but it is taking longer than expected. I was hoping to get this project up and running for this client within a time frame of 3-4 weeks, and its approaching the 4th week, with no images of the product yet, and there are other details to work out such as shipping, and forms of payment.
So, that is a slice of my life, right now.
